Durban Poison traces its roots to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, near the city of Durban. The strain was brought to the West in the late 1970s through the work of Ed Rosenthal, Mel Frank, and Skunkman Sam, who stabilized it in California before it spread globally. This selection incorporates SSSC F4 male genetics for enhanced vigor.
What distinguishes Durban Poison is its naturally high THCV content (3-5%), rare among cannabis strains. Combined with 18-24% THC and a terpinolene-dominant terpene profile, this creates the famously energizing, clear-headed effects often compared to espresso.
